Veteran director K Balachander died in a private hospital in Chennai. Reportedly, the 80 year old director was suffering from lung disease and kidney ailment for several years. Balachander is the director who has introduced the likes of Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Saritha, Prakash Raj and several actors to the industry. Sources say Balachander has been battling for life for a while and admitted in a private hospital a week ago in Chennai. Despite strenuous attempts, Balachander didn’t respond to the treatment and pronounced dead on Tuesday evening.
Rajinikanth and other celebrities from Kollywood are rushing to the hospital, while Kamal Haasan who is away from Chennai due to his upcoming film’s shooting schedule is expected to reach Balachander’s house shortly to pay his last respects to his mentor.
