Director Ramesh Varma took some gap after his last release Veera and is now coming up with an out and out romantic entertainer Abbayi Tho Ammayi which features Naga Shaurya and Palak Lalvani in the lead roles. The film, an Illayaraja musical, will hit the screens on January 1st. Our Palli Batani correspondent caught up with Ramesh Varma for a brief interview. Here it is.
Q) What was the reason for such a long gap for your last release and this one ?
Ans) After directing Veera, I planned this film which was supposed to be Naga Shaurya’s debut film. Unfortunately, at that time no producer came forward to fund the project. Naga Shaurya got busy with his other projects and the project got delayed. It finally happened this year.
Q) What are your going to narrate in Abbayi Tho Ammayi ?
Ans) Abbayi Tho Ammayi is a trendy love story. The film throws light on how youngsters in the current era are sticking to virtual world and ignoring the realities surrounding them. The narration will be quite different and the film will be entertain all sections of audience.
Q) What changes did you find in Naga Shaurya in this gap ?
Ans) Naga Shaurya is now a matured actor and he did a fabulous job in this film. He proved himself as an actor in this two years and this has helped me catch his skills perfectly and use for my film.
Q) A few words on your collaboration with maestro Illayaraja ?
Ans) Illayaraja and I share a good rapport. I used to follow him very closely and his contribution to this film is a big boost for us. We are happy with the positive buzz for the film’s audio and this has increased the expectations on the film. It was Illayaraja who suggested us to release the film in Tamil as well. C. Kalyan bagged the Tamil rights and will release simultaneously on the same day.
Q) Finally, what are your expectations on the film ?
Ans) The entire unit is super confident about the film’s success. It has come out very well and the distributors are very happy with the film. We are hopeful that the film will impress the audience big-time. Despite few other releases, Abbayi Tho Ammayi will take advantage of the holiday season ahead and will garner good response from the audience.
