RED ZONE: A RAY OF HOPE AMIDST LOCKDOWN
With the Covid lockdown engulfing the whole world and bringing life to a standstill, many industries have taken a bad beating and top in that list is Cinema. With an uncertain future looming and the entertainment professionals unable to figure out when things would get back to normal, a sense of gloom has been all around. However, it appears there are those who are seeing an opportunity amidst this crisis and bringing a ray of hope.
Innovative Film maker Seshu KMR has come up with his new directorial venture titled ‘Red Zone’. This movie has certain unique characteristics which makes it interesting. For starters, this is not actually directed. Secondly, it doesn’t have a standard DOP canning the whole scenes. Thirdly, the entire project was assembled remotely across various cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai. To top it all, every scene was recorded by the artiste at his/her own residence( selfshot) adhering to lockdown regulations.
‘Red Zone’ is an experimental movie which revolves around the life of a Deccani(Hyderabadi)cinema crew which is gearing up for shooting their first ever project and get stuck by the Lockdown. The film entails the journey of each character and their emotional transitions as the story progresses. The music for the film is by the Mumbai based duo of Gaurav-Pratham and they have also come up with a song which is climbing the charts steadily. Recently, the trailer was unveiled and got a good response and Seshu KMR has mentioned he is aiming to release the film during Lockdown.

This attempt has triggered a discussion among the Filmnagar circles that the response and success of ‘Red Zone’ will create a new trend in filmmaking. Irrespective of that, it has brought in a cheer towards the positive stand taken by the director to conceive something in such challenging times.
