–Harish seeks technical expertise from the three institutions for Mission Kakatiya
—Institutions comes forward to extend all help to TS in irrigation sector
Hyderabad : Telangana State Irrigation Department on Thursday entered agreement with the IIT ( Hyderabad) , BITS Pilani and NABARAD ( National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) to utilise the technical expertise of the three prestigious institutions in the successful implementation of the ‘ Mission Kakatiya’ programme.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao at his chambers here in the Secretariat. State Special Chief Secretary SK Joshi exchanged the agreement documents with IIT Director Professor Desai, BITS Director Professor VS Rao and NABARD CVV Satyanarayana.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said the agreement with three top institutions will herald a new era in the preservation of water bodies under the Mission Kakatiya in the country . The institutions will be roped in to conduct third party check in the execution of works periodically. The institutions will also address technical issues in reviving the abandoned tanks under the mission.
The minister suggested IIT and BITS Pilani Heads to take up pilot projects involving students pursuing PhD and MTech and Teaching Staff on irrigation projects in the state and analyse irrigation facility . He urged the two institutions to update his department in the advancement of technology in the irrigation sector from time to time.
The Minister also sought the help of the IIT and BITS in creating integrated knowledge data base for every irrigation project, up-gradation of the official website ensuring more transparency and organise training camps to the department engineers to acquaint knowledge on fresh trends emerged in irrigation sector worldwide.
Harish Rao requested NABARD to take up studies on mission kakatiya and submit the reports to his department to take corrective measures if necessary.
The representatives of the three institutions expressed happiness for entering agreements with the Irrigation department and extended all help to make success the Mission Kakatiya , the first of its kind scheme launched for the revival of water bodies and tanks in the country .
